Early evening raving returns to Manchester with Meat Free collective’s Under One Roof. The disability disco welcomed dozens of party-goers at its debut in July, with over two million people watching a BBC feature about the event. The party returns on November 2 to Northern Quarter arts bar Texture, with clubbers including wheelchair users and those with Down’s syndrome and autism. Under One Roof offers a safer space than other raves: the lighting and volume is lower, and DJs go easy on the obscure techno – and yet organisers still keep a clubby atmosphere with tune after tune of disco and house floor-fillers. Carers and family members are also welcome. Credits for organisers Meat Free DJs include the Warehouse Project, Boiler Room and developing new talent at Manchester Midi School. They plan many more glitter-filled inclusive nights in 2018.
