Having sold out their debut vinyl release with Moroccan musician Majid Bekkas, the Banana Hill crew are in high spirits and ready to party for the launch of their second. Manchester-based drummer, DJ & producer Contours joins multi-instrumentalist XOA for a collaborative 12″ of deep, percussive afrocentric house grooves. Cervo joins them for a back-to-back troika.

Simply one of the world’s finest DJs, Mr Thing (pictured) pays an all too rare visit to Manchester to launch the final Soundwave festival, taking place this July in Croatia. Funk, hip hop, and all that orbits it put together by his magic hands. Support from local legends Noel Edge and Rich Reason.

An exciting new funk night from Diesler, Ryan Hayes (Stutter & Twitch) and Simon Ham (Discolypso, The Plimp Souls) which takes place on the last Saturday of each month, at frankly fabulous new venue Night People. The brilliant and boisterous Buffalo Brothers take to the stage just after midnight.

Sat 24 Feb / Community: Eddie Conway Fundraiser @ The Peer Hat / 10.30pm-3.30am
Eddie Conway, of the Black Panther Party, was wrongly jailed for 44 years in 1971 at the culmination of a trail with many irregularities. At over 70 years old, he’s now dedicating his life to serving his community, but has a wish to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, and also visit an ex-Black Panthers camp at the base of the mountain. Community will donate all funds from this night to cyclist Thomas Barlow’s crowdfunder to fund Eddie’s flight. Jazz funk, afro house, boogie and more.
