Wed 18 Dec | JTC | Soup Kitchen
I feel like this might have slipped under the radar a little, but a proper musical legend is playing in Manchester this Wednesday. Also known as Dabrye (and Charles Manier and a million other names) – 2013 has been one of his best and most prolific years. JTC is probably the most fitting of his aliases for the Soup Cellar, but expect all kinds of stuff to be thrown in, especially given that he’ll be playing with Manchester’s own Illum Sphere. Support comes from Boltonmore and it’s only £5.

Thu 19 Dec | Ballin’ On A Budget | Mint Lounge
This is probably going to be absolute carnage. Broke’N’£nglish’s legendary BOAB parties have been going on for some time now, with a music policy and attitude that’s all about good times – there’ll be various contests and giveaways running through the night and music provided by some of the city’s best. A Christmas party to remember.

Fri 20 Dec | Zed Bias (pictured) | Antwerp Mansion
With his album on Swamp 81 punctuating it, 2013 has been a good year for Zed Bias. A resurgence as one of the UK’s most in-demand and well-respected DJs means that this extended set is going to be a fitting Christmas present and that’s not even counting the H&R resident lineup of Chimpo, Jonny Dub and Rich Reason.

Sat 21 Dec | meandyou Christmas Party | Soup Kitchen
Back to Soup to wrap up the week and it’s a residents-only affair for meandyou. this December. Luckily, this is no bad thing – their show on NTS Radio has gone from strength to strength and the launch of their label in September was one of the best-received debuts of recent memory. Early birds tickets have sold out, but the standards will still be available if you’re quick. See our full preview.
