Dead Cat Comedy is surprisingly prolific in its wanderings about Manchester for a former feline. This series of club nights is run and hosted by Red Redmond (pictured) student, stand up and improviser with Comedy Sportz who recently secured a spot in the semi-final of the Chortle Student Comedian of the Year. His gigs predominately showcase the talents of relatively new acts as well more plenty of the more seasoned local stand ups and there are three gigs to look out for in March. Tonight at TV21 you can catch straight talking funny lady Hayley Ellis plus Funk Rocket 5000, Lee Fenwick’s (Mick Sergeant) latest project in which he is joined by the deadpan Rachel Lancaster. Lewis Charlesworth completes the bill. At Sandbar on Monday (18 Mar) the exuberantly kooky Katie Mulgrew previews her forthcoming Edinburgh fringe show with support from Danny Sutcliffe and sketch troupe Gein’s Family Gift Shop. Wednesday (20 Mar) at The Spoon Inn completes the trio with Ellis returning to headline, supported by Kate McCabe and James Meehan. And all this for small, voluntary, bucket donation.
