Steve Hughes | Jabez Clegg | Tue 13 Aug | £5/£3 | 8.30pm
Bringing his new show for a pre-tour warm up to XS Malarkey, the outspoken Australian and former thrash metaller Steve Hughes (pictured) delivers more of his spot on social commentary. The ever-green Toby Hadoke MCs proceedings as usual, with support from the best in local stand up.

Tales Of Whatever | The Castle Hotel | Wed 14 Aug | FREE | 7.45pm
The free-form storytelling event descends upon The Castle once more for a night of mirth and miscreance, as spoken word artists, poets and comedians get up on stage and talk about, well, whatever. Like being at a party where everyone has a good story to tell, and although not strictly a comedy event, it is always funny.

Stand Up Thursday | The Comedy Store | Thu 15 Aug | £10/£5 | 8pm
Justin Moorhouse continues to fly the flag on the home front while his peers are away at the Fringe, and this Thursday he’s helped along by the amazing Adam Bloom. Dubbed by The List as ‘perhaps the perfect comedian’, Bloom has travelled the world with his oddball observations, as well as appearing on shows such as Mock The Week and Russell Howard’s Good News. Two comedians at the top of their game (plus support).

Alex Boardman’s Young Guns | The Comedy Store | Sun 18 Aug | £4 advance | 7.30pm
Alex Boardman provides a platform – and what he hopes will become a springboard for young comedians just starting out – with his monthly young guns show at The Comedy Store. This time Boardman hands hosting duties to Dave Longley, where he will be joined by Will Duggan, David Stanier and Ed Easton. Tomorrow’s stand up today. Well, Sunday.
