Dead Cat Comedy | Sandbar | Mon 18 Nov | 8pm | FREE
Dead Cat Comedy’s march toward comedy club supremacy continues with another stellar line up of top comedians. And it’s all for FREE! Australian Sully O’Sullivan takes time out from supporting last week’s pick Steve Hughes to appear at Red Redmond’s night as well as support from the extremely dark Jonny Pelham. Your headliner is rising star Kiri Pritchard-McLean who brilliantly combines smarts with funnies.

Mike Newall | Jabez Clegg | Tue 19 Nov | 8pm | £5/3
Mike has been entertaining Manchester audiences with his easy charm and very clever sets for just over a decade now and brings his latest show to the benchmark for all comedy nights XS Malarkey. ‘Six weddings’ ran at this year’s Fringe and was very well received. A casual performer who makes it all look very easy he is joined in the headlining bracket by Roger Monkhouse. In support they have Sean Morna, Adam Bowman and Steve Titley with the always excellent Toby Hadoke as MC.

Tom Wrigglesworth (pictured) | Comedy Store | Thu 21 Nov | 8pm | £10/5
A chance to see Wrigglesworth before he embarks on his 2014 tour of his sell out Edinburgh show ‘Utterly at Odds With The Universe’. A sporadic, whimsical storyteller, Wrigglesworth is fast cementing his place on the comedy A-List. If you can’t make the Thursday show at The Comedy Store he will be performing Friday and Saturday (though it’s more expensive). Well worth checking out.

New Wave | The Dancehouse | Fri 22 Nov | 7.30pm | £10/8
Comedy powerhouse The Invisible Dot brings its pick of the new breed of exciting young comedians to the Dancehouse this Friday for what is sure to be the gig of the week. To see any of the following acts on a solo stage would be treat enough but five for the price of one is just plain gluttonous; Ivo Graham, Claudia O’Doherty, Mae Martin, Liam Williams and Ellie White are all exceptionally talented comedians and they will be ably helped along by MC Mark Watson. Simon Munnery | The Lowry | Sat 23 Nov | 8pm | £12
Labelled ‘one of the most consistently original and imaginative minds in comedy’ may weigh heavy on some comedians, but not Simon Munnery as he continues to push the boundaries of stand up, live theatre and film with his latest show FYLM. Live sketches are filmed and projected on screen from the cerebral machinations of a man who dares to make comedy art. Almost. It’s still hilariously funny and never takes itself too seriously.

Laughing Cows 15th Birthday | Frog & Bucket | Sun 24 Nov | 8pm | £7 (£10 otd)
Even though it is 2013 there is still a massive gender bias in comedy. If you scroll down the listings at The Comedy Store in Manchester you’d be hard pushed to find a single female comedian on any of the bills. This is not through lack of talent but due to old fashioned beliefs of old, irrelevant comedy bookers who believe women aren’t funny. Not the case, as evidenced by Laughing Cows Comedy Night which celebrates fifteen years of pushing female comics to the front of the stage. Janey Godley, Susan Murray and Ellen Tomlinson are part of the line up with the wonderful Kerry Leigh hosting the party. Special mention goes to Penella Mellor who won this month’s Beat the Frog World Series and is one to keep an eye on for the future. Read our full preview here.
