Longing for the flavours of the winter months’ Bavarian markets? This summer, Manchester is welcomes Bierfest to Albert Square. The first edition sees Albert Square transformed into a German village, with a  mouthwatering platter of pilsners, bratwursts and schnitzels for sale. The organisers promise ‘everything German’ rolled into an extended weekend and alongside feasting on food and drink, guests can  expect music, fairground games such as Hau den Lukas (aka High Striker, where you hit the base with a hammer and a bell rings at the top) and plenty more across a fun day out. Book ahead to secure your place at the tables.

Wed 1 – Sun 5 Jun, Albert Square, Manchester, M2 4JW, from 4pm on Wed then 11.30am thereafter, FREE entry to the festival with prices for entry to specialist bier tents, www.manchester.bierfest.co.uk
