A celebration of local, national, and international short films, the Kinofilm Festival returns to Manchester later this month. This nine-day long event will take place in multiple venues throughout the city, and will showcase over 250 movies. The big launch is a gala screening at the Odeon – Great Northern, which is followed by an afterparty. Because they are still very under-represented in the industry, Kinofilm is hosting Women in Film & TV, a day dedicated to female filmmakers. Taking place at Manchester University, this features networking events, panel discussions, and presentations. Spanish Shorts is a perennial favourite amongst festival goers. Hosted by the Instituto Cervantes on Deansgate, it will present standouts of Iberian cinema and also includes a drinks reception. Proving that the medium is not just about up-and-coming talent, Stars in Shorts, at the International Anthony Burgess Foundation, will present films with well-known actors.
