PAPER is a commercial art gallery near Victoria Station which represents a range of emerging and mid-career artists. After sitting in lockdown since October, the venue is returning to life with a pair of exhibits that you can view on three Saturdays in May.

A Smart Price Way of Life is the first solo collection by Jade Magenta Williams, a recent graduate of Salford University. Using photography, collage, and various items from her own personal archive, Jade aims to make her earliest memories of childhood tangible. Referencing Asda’s budget range of products, the exhibition highlights her upbringing in the welfare system.

Between the Layers of… comes from Texas-based artists Nishiki Sugawara-Beda and Bartosz Beda. It uses the duo’s differing painting practices to explore the multiple layers present in our society, both visible and invisible. Bartosz explores abstract figures and sculptural surfaces, whilst Nishiki depicts spiritual, organic landscapes using Japanese Sumi ink.

The first of these exhibitions launches on Saturday 1 May. To find out more, visit the Paper Gallery website.
