Tickets go on sale soon for Northern Grip, a celebration of all things mountain bike, which is coming up in July. This two-day event takes place just outside the Lancashire town of Bacup. The hub is in a quarry, which offers some challenging single-track rides over rocks and gravel. Other routes explore the surrounding moors, and there are climb-free options for those who just want a cruise to take in the views. A perennial favourite, Northern Grip has even more routes to explore this year. Many different kinds of courses are mapped out, from 3km pootles to 30km epics. The festival is family-friendly and emphasises the social side of cycling. It kicks off with an opening party on Friday night, and then on Saturday there will be food and drink, bike demos, trade stands, and live music. And if you’re very brave, you can even camp there.
