To coincide with this month’s Tour de France, the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) is launching Pedal Power, a celebration of the world of track cycling. The exhibition, which continues through to March 2015, will explore both the people and the technology behind the sport – including a focus on the science behind Team GB’s success at the 2012 Olympics. Visitors can also pit themselves against the greats of cycling by using a time-trial bike. Manchester is considered to be the home of British cycling, so the history of the sport in the city will be explored too, including celebrations of Britain’s first cycling superstar Reg Harris and 1928 Olympic silver medallist Jack Sibbit. Specialist demonstrations, meanwhile, will discuss topics such as aerodynamics and how gears work – see the MOSI site below for dates and times.
