After a brief hiatus, The Great Northern’s outdoor Community Kitchen returns, with Manchester health food experts ARMR Store on dining duty for the next two weekends. Launched in early summer, this pop-up and socially distanced dining space was created alongside sponsors Estrella Damm and United We Stream with the aim of helping hospitality venues ease out of lockdown. With 2020 continuing to be a challenge for many, it’s never been a better time to visit the Great Northern and show your support for Manchester’s local food and drink scene.
From 4pm – 9pm on Friday 16 and Friday 23 and 1pm to 9pm on Saturday 17 and Saturday 24 October, visitors will be able pop by to enjoy a range of dishes, including pizzas with toppings like jerk jackfruit and caramelised plantain (£9.95) and scotch bonnet hummus, garlic mushrooms and red onion salsa (£9.95), jackfruit burgers with garlic and dill mayo and hash browns (£6.49) and a range of box meals featuring BBQ oyster mushroom wings with jerk BBQ sauce and vegan mac and cheese (£9.95) and a steamed ackee medley with cooked down chic-peas, dairy-free mac and cheese and seasoned fries (£9.95).
In addition to food, site sponsors Estrella Damm and Didsbury Gin will also be on-hand to keep the weekend vibes going. Ice cold pints (£5) and half-pints (£2.60) of Estrella will be available on tap, alongside a range of flavoured gin and tonics in cans from the popular Didsbury distillery, including Raspberry and Elderflower, Strawberry Lemon and Blood Orange (all £6). For more information on the Community Kitchen, visit the Great Northern Warehouse.
