The first phase of community consultation for the redevelopment of Chorlton Shopping Centre has begun.

One Chorlton is seeking the views of immediate neighbours and the wider community to lay out a detailed vision for the site, which will be subject to further consultation later this year.

The 3.2-acre site is currently home to the shopping precinct, Graeme House office block and a ground-level car park.

The P J Livesy Group was appointed as the preferred developer back in spring, and is currently working on options for the site alongside award-winning architects Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios.

P J Livesey managing director, Georgina Lynch, said: “Chorlton has its own unique character and energy and we want to understand local ambitions for the area and what we should be considering as we work on the masterplan.

“Building on the site’s potential, we want to create a neighbourhood that responds to how people live, work, shop and spend time today with energy efficient new homes, new shops and outdoor spaces where people can spend time.

“We want to engage as widely as possible with all sections of the community and look forward to the first conversations about One Chorlton with further consultation, including in person events, planned for later this year as plans for the site evolve.”

Key proposals for the site include a mix of up to 200 new homes, including affordable properties, modern retail spaces and open areas for the community to meet.

The One Chorlton consultation runs until Mon 21 Aug. You can have your say online, in writing or by filling out a questionnaire which is available to pick up at Chorlton Library, or by request via freephone on 0800 680 1095, or email at enquiries@onechorlton.co.uk.
