The Rambert contemporary dance company brings a triple bill of works to The Lowry at the end of September. Ghost Dances is choreographer Christopher Bruce’s exploration of love, death and compassion within the context of political oppression in South America. Returning to the stage for the first time in 13 years, the piece is set to Latin American folk music with references to Day of the Dead festivities. Choreographer and director of the Greek National Opera Ballet Andonis Foniadakis’ energetic and powerful new piece features a filmic score from British neo-classical composer Ilan Eshkeri, with intricate and ethereal costumes designed by fashion designer, Tassis Sofroniou. Double Olivier award-winning choreographer Kim Brandstrup brings Transfigured Night to the stage. Focusing on the story of a pair of lovers meeting at moonlight where dark secrets threaten the foundations of their relationship, four dancers perform intimate duets set to a romantic score.
