Give it up to summer with Cottonopolis free to enter Tropadelica weekender. The excellent Northern Quarter bar is hosting a three-day party next week, with beer tasting, record spinning and all-day brunching. Friday (9 Jun) will gets things going with the North vs South Juicy Beer Takeover. Beer taps around the venue will be taken over by brewers including Cloudwater, Gipsy Hill, North and Verdant – with brewers on hand to answer any pressing questions. Plus there’s the chance to win beer-filled and beer merchandise hamper. Friday evening is soundtracked by tropical trio Captain Stingray’s Groove Machine and Lowell Walbank, One Tree Island and Jonjo Williams. Following Friday’s fun, the perfect remedy is Tropadelica’s Bottomless Saturday Brunch (10am-2pm), repeated on Sunday with all your breakfast favourites paired with hand-picked beers and/or bottomless Prosecco, Bellinis and Bloody Marys. There’s more music to enjoy over the course of the weekend too: get your moves on at DJs Mikey Don, Agent J (Groovement), Apocalypso and Miss Puerto Rico’s world music vinyl party (Saturday, noon-2am), while from 1pm Sunday you can feast your ears on the sun-drenched reggae sounds of Sol Colectivo – before partying into the night with DJs Simon Ham (WAX), Nic Zube and DJ Ash from Guadeloupe. Heading off to Parklife Festival? Cottonopolis has that covered too: simply pop in and let the make up artists from The Gypsy Shrine turn you into a work of art with their glitter station – all for free.
