Food news: Cottonopolis ups its lunchtime game with bento boxes

Newton Street bar and restaurant Cottonopolis has launched a lunchtime bento box menu. The boxes feature a selection of popular items from its Asian-inspired menu, including maki rolls, tempura, yakitori skewers and steamed Taiwanese bao buns, as well as a small salad. A vegetarian options is available on request. Priced at £8 and available between 12pm and 4pm, Monday to Friday, the speedily-delivered bento boxes are likely to fill the gap between cheap eats and full-on sit-down lunch options. Cottonopolis opened in November 2015 in the Grade II-listed building on the corner of Newton Street and Dale Street, transforming the former tailor’s studio into a large bar and eatery. It has been shortlisted in the Bar of the Year category of this year’s Manchester Food & Drink Festival Awards.
