Barrister turned YouTube curry evangelist Nisha Katona is a busy woman. She has two Mowgli street food restaurants in Liverpool and Manchester’s Corn Exchange with more on the way. Now she’s in print – not with a spin-off from their kitchens but a globe-spanning recipe survey of the world’s greatest food staple, called Pimp My Rice (Nourish Books, £25). It ranges from builder’s breakfast bowl to gold leaf and white truffle risotto, taking in juniper and lemon curd rice pudding. She’ll be signing copies and doing a cookery demo at Waterstone’s.

Wed 4 May, Waterstone’s, 91 Deansgate, Manchester M3 2BW. Tel: 0161 837 3000, 7pm, £4, https://www.waterstones.com/events/pimp-my-rice-with-nisha-katona/manchester-deansgate
