It’s not everyday that cycling and theatre are so closely related (the Lance Armstrong debacle aside), but that’s exactly what The HandleBards theatre company propose this June, with two performances of Shakespeare favourites – Macbeth and The Comedy of Errors. Following a hugely successful tour last summer, the four Handlebards return to Ordsall Hall in Manchester, armed with bicycles, props and camping equipment, just one stop on a 2,000 mile cycle tour of Europe. The Handlebards will be performing every part of Director James Farrell’s wild indie-folk romp themselves, with the help of their bicycles, who will be making some rather surprising cameos throughout. With local live music promised, and the kind of outdoor thrills that make wearing a poncho a mandatory act, expect picnic-fuelled tomfoolery with just the right measure of wit.

Tue 24 (The Comedy of Errors) & Wed 25 Jun (Macbeth) 7pm, Ordsall Hall, 322 Ordsall Lane, Salford M5 3AN, Tickets £11 (concessions available), www.peculius.com
