Back by popular demand following the meteoric success of Giselle in 2019, the award-winning Dada Masilo returns with The Sacrifice from Tue 21 Mar – Wed 22 Mar at The Lowry.

An all-South African company of dancers and musicians present a spellbinding evening of movement that will transport audiences through a profound audiovisual journey set to original music performed live on stage.

Inspired by The Rite of Spring, The Sacrifice comprises a fusion of contemporary dance with the expressive movements of ‘Tswana’, the traditional dance of Botswana which is rooted in story-telling and healing ritual.

Dada Masilo is celebrated for her reinvention of classic stories, mining her own cultural heritage to create a distinctive choreographic style. She wowed crowds at The Lowry with her stunning reimagining of Giselle in 2019 and now returns to overwhelming demand.

Featuring live onstage music and innovative interpretive dances, The Sacrifice combines traditional movements with healing rituals to produce an ‘exhilarating performance’ which is set to ignite an odyssey of emotions.
