This weekend sees the annual Saddleworth Show return to in Uppermill, near Oldham. Set against the Pennines, the two-day event is a celebration of the area and its people. This year’s show has a World Cup theme, and will feature a football tournament and other sporting events. The show is family friendly, with many activities for kids, including go-karting, face painting and a climbing wall. Meanwhile, there will be a hog roast and a beer tent for the rest of us. Other highlights include falconry, a craft fair, dance shows and chainsaw sculpturing. Uppermill is around half an hour from Manchester by car, and can be reached on the train via Greenfield – 25-minutes from Victoria Station. This event is in support of The Rotary Club and local charities.
