Michael Schmidt (pictured), editor at Manchester’s respected publishing house, Carcanet, leads a discussion about the death of the editor in the age of blogging. Editing or the process of altering another’s written work has long been a bone of contention in the publishing world and beyond. From newspaper editors in the dock to the fashion for releasing a ‘director’s cut’, the subject of editing creative work will provoke lively debate at this panel event. Contributors include Lee Brackstone (Faber editor), Peter Hartey (founder of Poetic Republic), John Mitchinson (co-founder of Unbound, the UK’s first crowd-funded publishing house) and chair Erica Wagner (Times Literary Editor).
