Since disbanding the much-loved Leeds quartet Grammatics in 2010, frontman Owen Brinley has gone on to form new project Department M, continuing to hone his complex and kaleidoscopic writing style – but this time working with analogue synth textures and a dark pop aesthetic. Joining Department M are fellow Leeds outfit Menace Beach who feature a stella line-up of players from Sky Larkin, Hookworms, Komakino and You Animals, contributing to a fuzz pop sound that will leave a happy ring in the ears. As if it couldn’t get any better, opening proceedings will be local indie royalty Shinies, one of the most exciting live bands in Manchester.
