The woman who designed the iconic BAFTA mask, American sculptor Mitzi Cunliffe is the subject of a retrospective at The Whitworth by The Modernist Society on Sat 30 Jun. Professor Ann Sumner will introduce and discuss some of the pieces the artists created whilst living in Manchester in the 1950s (including the aforementioned accolade) before an informal discussion with the artist’s daughter Antonia who will offer a personal perspective on Cunliffe’s achievements.
