Famed for their bounty of independent arts, crafts and foodie stalls from across the North West, the Makers Markets returns to West Didsbury this weekend, with two of the area’s own favourites in tow. Burton Road cafe, The Dish That Ran Away With The Spoon will be serving up their famous doughnuts) alongside Dough It Yourself who sell DIY pizza kits and upmarket butchers, 3 Little Pigs. Elsewhere, more artisans than ever will be showcasing their award-winning wares and produce. Among them are decorations for indoors and outdoors, with gardening ideas by Shrubbies (flowers), Glass Gardener (terrariums) and Hillside Herbs (pots and tubs), as well as art works from Lucy Elizabeth (wirework), Mark Bird (illustration) and Ben Sedmans (photography). Everyone knows that browsing makes you hungry, so make a beeline for Great North Pie Co for big, gourmet pies, Cumbrian Pie for open tops, or tuck into STR8K’s pulled spicy meat, Marek’s ‘bad boy sausages’ or Turkish flatbreads from The Stomping Ground. Sweet teeth will be spoilt for choice by the brownies (Ian Treats), fresh truffle oils (The Truffle Centre) and vegan sweet treats (Raw Bake Station). There’s plenty more across all your culinary desires – from alcohol-infused Greek olives and artisan breads to locally produced jams and chuntneys. Wash it down with Salt & Spice Gins’ pink gin while tapping your feet to the tunes of Loose Change Buskers’ live music.
