Christmas time, soap operas, The Wizard of Oz, fetish, war, murder most horrid. Just an average weekend in Manchester? Actually no, they’ve all been past party themes for the drag performers at Cha Cha Boudoir. For the past couple of years, the final Friday of the month has witnessed an explosion of creativity in a Village basement that has since spilled over into city-wide occasions like the Cornerhouse closing party and the Manchester International Festival. If you think you know ‘drag queens’, perhaps it’s time to think again. Each Cha Cha Boudoir event features themed performances from the two Cha Cha high priestesses, Cheddar Gorgeous and Anna Phylactic, with a roster of sensational guest performers, from established drag scenesters to ambitious newbies. It is never ever dull. Not one to miss out on a little bit of zeitgeist, this month’s theme is thoroughly prehistoric, or as Cha Cha put it, ‘DRAG, DANCING & DINOSAURS’. Resident DJ Danny Olsson-Lane will give you something fun to dance to in between challenging your notions of gender, dinosaurs and performance art. So that’s Friday in the drag bag.

Fri 26 Jun, Sub 101, Princess Street, M1 6DD, 11.30pm-5am, performances start at 1am, £6 / £4 (if amazingly dressed), www.facebook.com
