Disco, as a reformed force in Mancunian nightclubs for the last few years, can sometimes be packaged in a way that distorts and forgets its history. With revelry an art much defined by denizens of this town – and nostalgia becoming something of a weird uncle – when something comes along that shifts the norm a little, it soon becomes big news. And so it is with Drunk At Vogue, the Stevenson Square social with beautiful boys and lots of attitude. And disco music, hours and hours of disco music, thumped through a rented PA by local DJs in a spit and sawdust Northern Quarter loft. Kraak is the venue, it’s small capacity, creaky floorboards and low ceilings perfect for that prototype disco vibe. Equally disco though, it can get busy, and we mean outside, not inside, so get there early to avoid heartbreak.
