It may not have the same jolly vibes as St Patrick’s Day, but Albert Square is hosting a series of intriguing events this weekend in honour of St George’s Day. Highlights include a beer and cider festival, hog roast, guest donkeys from Abbey Hey’s Donkey Sanctuary, a traditional funfair and live entertainment from Morris dancers not to mention school choirs and local musical acts. Sunday will also see the largest and longest running St George’s Parade through town to mark the final day of festivities from 11.30am. If King Henry VIII, knight and dragon costumes aren’t quite your thing, you’re probably better off hitting the Trafford Centre.
