Witness the unbeatable pairing of music and ale as Salford’s First Chop Brewing Arm plays host this Friday to Manchester-based band Douga’s album launch, The Silent Well. A band whose psychedelic outputs has seen recognition on BBC 6 Music, Douga comprise multi-disciplined members whose new album brings a base of guitar and violin specked with organic, complimentary layers. Formed by Johnny Winbolt-Lewis, previously of Keith, his boy-lost vocals incite a sense of longing in the listener among the experimental crashes of distinctive sounds. With the building blocks of this album consisting of Johnny’s love of kosmische music, rhythmic repetition and psychedelic drones, expect a show your thoughts can drift off with. Support comes from Daniel Land, whose releases have received praise from Guy Garvey among others, and Juffage, a Chicago-raised, Leeds-based multi-instrumentalist who opens the show. First Chop Brewing Arm will satisfy your thirst with a chin-stroking selection of ales brewed on-site, plus other refreshments.
