With the temperature swiftly dropping, it’s unlikely to be too long until we start layering up with numerous jumpers and wooly scarves and hats. This year, how about trying your hand at knitting your own? With knitting having a bit of a moment, now is a better time than ever to get in on the wooly fun. Sam and Iris of the NEPHRA Knit and Natter group will help point you in the right direction with a taster session in machine knitting on Thursday 26 September, ahead of a series of group sessions. Rather than getting frustrated with fiddly needles, have a go at using a knitting machine and learn about digital imaging with this drop-in taster event before the group starts up properly on Thursday 10 October. Running for ten weeks at NEPHRA in New Moston, with tips and techniques ranging from basics to more advanced tricks including punchcards and working with digital images, it’s the perfect opportunity to take up a cosy new craft project, just in time for winter.

Thu 26 Sep then continuing weekly from Thu 10 Oct, Taster at Purl City Yarns, 62 Port Street, M1 2EQ, then Group meetings at NEPHRA, 27 Parkfield Road North, New Moston, M40 3TB, 2pm – 5pm, FREE taster then £2 per session, www.knitting.smeech.co.uk
