DV8 Physical Theatre presents John at The Lowry

John, a new play from DV8 Physical Theatre comes to The Lowry next week. DV8 is an award-winning company known for its plays with challenging subject matter. It last came to The Lowry with Can We Talk About This?, a work about Islamic fundamentalism. In looking for inspiration for a follow-up, artistic director Lloyd Newson interviewed several men about love and sex. Here, he came across a man called John, who talked about his many years of crime and drug abuse. In this play, John’s story is brought to life using dance and spoken word. John had its debut at the Homotopia Festival 2014, an LGBT culture event in Liverpool, where it received several positive reviews. John features strong language and nudity, so is not suitable for under 16s. Watch the trailer below.
