Andrew Lloyd Webber’s stage version of School of Rock is set to go on a major UK tour in 2021 and will play the Palace Theatre in June and July. Based on the hit comedy movie starring Jack Black, the story centres on a failed musician who passes himself off as a supply teacher at a prestigious prep school. There, he turns a class of strait-laced students into a full-blown rock band. It features all of the original songs from the movie, plus 14 new numbers by Webber and lyricist Glenn Slater (The Little Mermaid, Sister Act). The show first opened on Broadway in 2016, to sell-out crowds and four Tony nominations. A later West End production won the Laurence Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Music. As the dates are a wee way off, there’s no info yet about the cast, showtimes or prices. But keep an eye on the website below for updates.
