The name may ring some bells, but that’s a V not a W. Vulvarine follows Bryony Buckle and her mundane life in High Wycombe as she plods through her dull office job with only lunch and crushes to get her through the day. But then, as with all good superhero stories, a procedure goes wrong and there’s a bolt of lighting, and just like that Bryony gains superhero powers. With any superpowers has to come a superhero identity, and Vulvarine is born – the saviour of womankind. The ‘masterclass in musical theatre’ (Edinburgh Guide) follows Vulvarine as she finds the Tampon Tax has been stolen and confronts villain The Mansplainer who is determined to overthrow the human race. Fat Rascal Theatre have won a heap of awards for their musicals including the Otherplace/Balkan Award at Brighton Fringe, VAULT festival’s Festival Spirit Award, an Eddies Award amongst others. Audience members at the ‘funny, silly, and smart’ show on the Friday will also get a special preview from new musical Hoarding by Sheep Soup.
