As part of this month’s Pride Fringe (read our Top 3 here), Joshua Brooks on Princess Street will play host to Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens. This powerful musical is written by Janet Hood and Bill Russell as a response to the AIDS crisis. The play features monologues from the perspective of characters who have died of AIDS, and songs that embody the emotions of friends and family who are dealing with lost loved-ones. Despite the heavy subject matter, the play is not without humour or uplifting moments. The work was first developed in the late 1980s, and there have been many productions over the years, including in the West End and Off Broadway. This production is in support of the George House Trust, a HIV support charity based in the North West.
