Multi-layered CMYK relief-prints taken directly from the derelict 5th floor surface of Salford’s Islington Mill result in these vivid textured rectangles by artist Maurice Carlin. Lifted from their site of production and exhibited in the main gallery at HOME for one day only, the work simultaneously tells the story of Islington Mill as a home for out-there creativity and the development of Carlin himself as artist and director of the Mill – as well as the grand plans that are afoot to expand the Mill, renovate the atmospheric 5th floor itself, and secure its place as a flagship for artistic innovation in the North. All works are for sale and each buyer becomes a ‘Custodian’ of the whole, embarking on a decade-long journey with Islington Mill – the nature of which the buyers themselves will decide. Open for viewings from 2pm with an evening event including artist meet and greet from 5pm till 8pm. Free.
