Timperley’s most famous son is being memorialised with a new exhibition. The archives of Frank Sidebottom, the papier mâché headed cult comic character, will be on display at Central Library’s major exhibition space for the next two months. The collection includes key artefacts that tell the life story of this local legend and his creator, the multi-talented Chris Sievey, who died in 2010. You will find selections from Chris (and Frank’s) many notebooks, diaries, home movies – and, of course, the iconic Max Fleischer-inspired head. Curators Steve Sullivan and David Arnold compiled this treasure trove as part of the research for their new documentary ‘Being Frank: The Chris Sievey Story’. The film will have its preview screening at HOME in early March, before a full release later in the month. Following the exhibition, its contents will be permanently preserved at the Library’s Archives+ Centre.
