Enjoy Mother’s Day and World Book Day in style by celebrating the life and times of the ‘Queen of Crime’ at Salford Museum and Art Gallery, where characters from the 1920s and 1930s will be brought to life by History Wardrobe. For one day only, experience the glamour of the Art Deco age, in which some of Agatha Christie’s best-known novels were written, through dramatic readings and dazzling fashions, from dainty day dresses and beaded ‘flapper’ frocks to sweeping evening gowns. A one-hour ‘Agatha Christie and Art Deco’ presentation, which will shine a light on the creator of well-loved literary characters such as Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot, starts at 11.30am, after which visitors can explore the Museum’s collections. Anyone who’s caught the time travelling bug can also travel even further back in time by visiting the Museum’s Victorian street recreation Lark Hall Place and engaging in a bit of window shopping.
