Filmmakers from across the globe are celebrating the humble eyeglasses in a new exhibition at HOME. Two dozen creatives were challenged to present a film in response to a pair of glasses – or its wearer. Although most participants come from the Manchester School of Art, the exhibition’s spec-focused artists come from such far-sited places as Yorkshire, Panama, Chicago and California. It’s brought to HOME by research group The Society of the Spectacles in a new partnership with London eyewear company – and optician to the stars – General Eyewear. ‘Strelnikov’s Glasses and Other Stories’ takes its name from the spectacles of Tom Courtenay’s Russian soldier in Dr Zhivago, with their distinctive wire-rimmed design. Expect many more designs celebrated in this unusual exhibition.
