Faktion, the brainchild of the underground industrial music champion Conor Tomas (Boomkat/Pelicanneck Records), returns for a rare live outing on Friday 5 October at the weird and frankly slightly scary location of Gullivers on Oldham Street. The night features Black Rain, one of the hottest artists on the hugely respected Blackest Ever Black label, plus special guests Powell and Acid Alan. Described as ‘NYC cyberpunk techno’, Black Rain first appeared in 1989 and later scored a soundtrack to the audiobook version of William Gibson’s seminal piece of dystopian literature, Neuromancer. Earlier this year Blackest Ever Black reissued that score on LP. This will be Black Rain’s debut show in Europe and promises to be unmissable, if not for the faint of heart. Recommended for anyone with a penchant for the odd, the dark and the post-industrial. Think Regis meets Angelo Badalamenti.
