The 63 year old artist and musician Lonnie Holley brings off beat synths, afro-psych riffs, blues drone jazz and lyrics to almost challenge his vocal improvisations at this anticipated show. His singular sound is explored on two albums: Just before Music (2012) and Keeping a Record of It (September 2013) and includes collaborations with the likes of Cole Alexander from the Black Lips and Bradford Cox from Deerhunter. Both are available on Dust to Digital, with Holley’s debut record described by the Guardian as ‘one of the strangest records on Spotify’. Holley has been composing songs as he creates his outsider art and sculptures since he suffered a family tragedy in his youth. He is one of 27, the father of 15 and is one of America’s most critically acclaimed outsider artists, with works exhibited at Birmingham’s (UK) Ikon gallery and across the US.
