Families can meet Father Christmas at the Science and Industry Museum this winter

Kids will have the opportunity to meet Santa Claus at Manchester’s Science and Industry Museum this festive season.

Father Christmas will be landing on the platform of the museum’s Power Hall: The Andrew Law Gallery, bearing gifts, listening to Christmas wishes and spreading bucketloads of cheer from Sat 21 Nov – Wed 23 Dec.

The historic Power Hall, which reopened to the public last year having been originally built as a shipping shed for the world’s first inter-city steam-powered railway, will be illuminated with twinkling lights, decorations, festive projections and the sound of carols. Families will be welcomed by Santa’s helpful elf before meeting the big man himself.

Tickets, which must be booked in advance alongside free museum admission, are £15 per child and include up to two accompanying adults. Every ticketed experience includes:

• A meeting with Father Christmas
•  A special gift worth upwards of £12
• The opportunity to get a picture with Father Christmas and his elf (please note these are to be taken by an accompanying parent/guardian)
• 20% discount in the museum’s café and 10% discount in its shop on the day of visiting.

On Sat 21 Nov and Wed 23 Dec the festive cheer will be taken up a notch as the museum welcomes classic Victorian-costumed carol singers. From Sat 19 Dec – Sun 3 Jan, everyone who visits the museum can also enjoy hands-on crafts, engaging demonstrations and illuminating activities all themed around winter.

Father Christmas and his elf will be greeting visitors on:

• Sat 21 – Sun 22 Nov
• Sat 28 – Sun 29 Nov (relaxed morning and extended time with Santa Sunday 29 Nov)
• Sat 5 – Sun 6 Dec
• Sat 12 – Sun 13 Dec (British Sign language interpreted afternoon on Sat 12 Dec)
• Wed 16 – Wed 23 Dec (relaxed morning and extended time with Santa Fri 18 Dec)
