Levy Market returns to the car park behind Levenshulme train station this Saturday – and as well as great street food, home made breads, and a whole host of diverse stall holders touting everything from one-off gifts to chutneys and vintage homewares, you’re making a positive difference to the local community by doing your shopping here. Levy Market’s passion for working with the wider small business community around Stockport Road and Levenshulme is well documented. Earlier this year, the social enterprise pledged to give back to the local community by creating its Market Fund which was set up to reinvest the market’s profits since launching in 2013 back into the area, maximising the project’s positive social impact and continuing to improve the prospects for residents. Social entrepreneurs and independent traders pitched for a share of the profits, and several business plans were selected by members of the Levenshulme community to share the £15,000 funding pot. The teams behind the winning projects are documenting their progress through the market’s website (click on the link below to read more). Among others, the Market was nominated in the ‘Best Food and Drink Pop Up Event, Club or Project of the Year’ category in this year’s Manchester Food and Drink Awards.
