For a ‘Grim’ night of festivities, join Grimmfest for their creepy Christmas movie gathering. Grimmfest are a film festival dedicated to horror, cult and sci-fi classics which runs in October, but they also have one-off cult screenings throughout the year. This winter they are taking over the Central Library for a seasonal screening of the 2015 film Krampus – which attained a contemporary ‘cult’ status’. Starring Toni Collette (The Sixth Sense, About a Boy) and Adam Scott (Stepbrothers), it tells the story of young Max (Emjay Anthony) who, disillusioned by his dysfunctional family during the Holidays, turns his back on Christmas, only to face the wrath of Krampus – an evil demonic spirit who punishes those who have lost their Christmas spirit. Expect free mince pies, gingerbread men, and mulled wine to mix some festive in with the frightening. You can even say hello to a real life Krampus.
Wed 12 Dec, Manchester Central Library, St Peter’s Square Manchester M2 5PD. 6pm, £6, sold out, returns only, www.grimmfest.com
