For over 40 years the music of Michael Nyman has been the accompaniment to film, both short and long form, for other filmmakers and even his own creations. His 1993 score for Jane Campion’s Oscar winning The Piano drew great critical acclaim and is considered one of the greatest film compositions of modern cinema collecting an Ivor Novello Award, Golden Globe, a BAFTA and an American Film Institute award. This evening will see Nyman play the iconic solo piano music from films collaborations with directors including Peter Greenaway, Jane Campion and Michael Winterbottom. A wonderful talent with an expansive back catalogue, Nyman’s minimalist style lends perfectly to the biggest of stages.
