As part of their Spring/Summer season, Elizabeth Gaskell’s House are screening Richard Eyre’s Iris, starring a trio of acclaimed British actors; Jim Broadbent, Judi Dench and Kate Winslet. Based on one of the greatest writers of the 20th Century, Iris Murdoch, the film delves into Iris and her husband’s relationship during their student years and in her later years, as she loses her memories to Alzheimer’s. Portraying their youthful relationship, Kate Winslet and Hugh Bonneville underscore the later performances of Judi Dench an Jim Broadbent well. Following this screening, a discussion will be held upon the film, with accompanying wine and nibbles. For the true traditional cinema experience, free ice cream will be served right before the screening.
