Fifty years on from the Uprisings in Paris, HOME is putting on a series of films highlighting resistance and political activism in film. With a focus, but not exclusive eye, on French cinema, the series will look at the political issues of the time, and the way they relate to our modern world. Highlights include If, Linsey Anderson’s anarchic vision of a British boarding school with a tremendously dark pre-Clockwork Orange Malcolm McDowell. Unsurprisingly given the themes, four Goddard films make an appearance in this series, as well as biopic Redoubtable which focuses on the period leading up to the Uprising, and Goddard’s filming of La Chinoise with his love Anee Wiazemsky. Playing on the myth of Goddard as well as the fact, the film is directed by Michel Hazanavicius, of The Artist Fame.
