HOME’s Not Just Bollywood showcases contemporary Indian independent cinema and celebrates the work of marginal and independent South Asian filmmakers. Not Just Bollywood is curated by Omar Ahmed, UK-based film scholar and Rachel Hayward, HOME’s Head of Film.

The latest season returns with a celebration of Irrfan Khan, including a One Hour Intro from co-curator Omar Ahmed, giving an insight into the actor’s career, and screenings of The Namesake and The Warrior. The season also includes a focus on Bengali cinema.

HIghlights this year includ the Bagri Foundation London Indian Film Festival guesting with its super-hit ‘Too Desi Too Queer’ programme, a dynamic and thought-provoking selection of recent LGBTQIA+ short films exploring the lives, experiences and well-being of South Asian LGBTQIA+ communities in the Subcontinent and diaspora. And ‘The Warrior’ (pictured here), set in feudal Rajasthan, and examining a guilt-ridden warrior who renounces violence and undergoes a spiritual journey in one of the most accomplished directorial debuts in British cinema.
