The International Anthony Burgess Foundation and Società Dante Alighieri are joining forces, to explore the connections between Burgess and Italian culture with a one-off presentation and film night. Burgess spent several years living and writing in Italy. This presentation will discuss the connection between Burgess and Italian cinematic culture, focusing on his relationship with Sophia Loren (pictured), whom the author met several times. It will be followed by a screening of the Italian classic, Vittorio De Sica’s Oscar-winning 1964 film Leri, oggi e domain (Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow), starring Loren and Marcello Mastroianni. The entry price includes a glass of wine (Italian, of course) to enjoy with the film.
