It’s a little-known fact that Manchester was actually the birthplace of the modern vegetarian movement in 1847. Vegetarianism has come a long way since then, and with National Vegetarian Week coming up (16-22 May), what better way to reduce your meat intake than with a 22-inch pizza?

Nell’s huge NYC-style pies have quickly become the stuff of legend in Manchester—and while the vast majority of the menu promises to appeal to vegetarian diners, there’s also plenty of choice for vegan pizza lovers too.

Our top-five favourites?

We’re of the opinion that you can’t go wrong with the classics. That’s why we love Nell’s ‘Original Cheese’, with house tomato sauce, mozzarella blend, extra virgin olive oil and vegetarian parmesan.

Next up is a goddess of a pizza, as Nell’s ‘Greens’ features a medley of seasonal greens on a roast garlic cream base, and is loaded with smoked Lancashire cheese, chilli, extra virgin olive oil and parmesan.

If you’re still in the dark about how NFTs actually work, Nell’s ‘Non Funghi-ble Token’ is a much more simple and tempting delight, featuring mozzarella, chilli flakes, mushrooms, marinara sauce, thyme and garlic oil.

Or for something a little different, try the ‘Upside Down Margherita’; with cheese downstairs and sauce on top, finished with basil oil, fresh basil and parm

For vegans, or those who prefer to avoid dairy, Nell’s ‘Vegan Deluxe’ is a decadent affair, with a marinara base, vegan’duja, artichoke, roast peppers, red onion and extra virgin olive oil.

You can book your spot at any one of Nell’s three Manc sites below (Common, Kampus and The Beagle), or grab and go from the new slice shop, also at Kampus.
