Double Zero “00” winning at pizza in Chorlton
Chorlton’s new pizzeria, named after the super-fine Italian flour grade, is getting rave reviews. The venue is – as far as we are aware – the only one in Chorlton to house a wood-fired Stefano Ferrara oven and to use a slow-rise sourdough base – the stuff made famous by London’s Franco Manca chain, and, of course, used in proper jobs in Naples. Its back-to-basics vibe is fast making this the go-to spot for casual food in the ‘burbs.
Double Zero, 368 Barlow Moor Road, Chorlton, M21 8AZ. Tel:0161 943 8980, www.facebook.com

Sugo – the region’s first pasta restaurant is winning fans in Altrincham
More pizza-related news today, as Honest Crust Pizza graduates Alex De Martiis and Jonny Marcogliese are winning many fans with their pasta-only outlet Sugo (pictured) near Altrincham Market. Puglia is the region that’s inspired this carb fest, and while the menu changes regularly, typical dishes include brown and white crab spaghetti (£15). Wines are by Reserve, beers by Blackjack.
