It’s no secret that Manchester is one of the best places in the country for vegan food, especially with so many plant-based independents dotted around the city. Now, there’s a new meat-free kid on the block: all American-inspired vegan diner Oowee.

Oowee vegan reigns from Bristol – a city often dubbed as the Vegan capital, for the dedication to vegan food in the area. Originally functioning as an online-only sister brand to the original Oowee Diner, Oowee vegan recreated all of their original fan favourites with plant-based ingredients. However, after receiving phenomenal success on Deliveroo, the Oowee team decided to only pursue 100% vegan venues moving forward. Much to their customers’ delight – it seems – as Oowee was officially deemed Deliveroo’s restaurant of the year at its first ever Restaurant awards in 2019.

So what do they serve? Their menu boasts ridiculously indulgent and hyper-realistic vegan junk food, from battered sriracha prawns made from potato starch, to jalapeno cheesy waffle fries, and the ‘sneaky clucker’ burger – crispy chick’n, American cheese, gherkins and lettuce, finished off with Oowee’s signature dirty sauce. In fact, their ‘VFC’ is so close to the mark, that some past customers were concerned they’d been sold real meat! Rest assured, they very much had not – it’s just that good.

So good, that Oowee managed to create a ‘Burger Apocalypse’ back in 2019. To celebrate Deliveroo’s 5th birthday, Oowee decided to give away free burgers in Bristol City Centre. All was well and good until thousands of people swarmed, just dying to get a taste of their infamous burgers. The demand was so high that the police had to be called. If this doesn’t tell you that they’re worth spending your money on, what will?

Oowee vegan will continue to function as a takeaway-only venue in Manchester, cooking out of a purpose-built, state of the art kitchen in Salford. This is now the fourth UK city Oowee vegan has made a home in, having seen huge success in Bristol, Brighton, and two venues in London.

Order on Deliveroo to get your junk food fix without the eco-guilt.
